I'm a sucker for romance. As much as I'd like to hide behind a macho facade, I'm very much a softie inside.I like movies with happy endings when the guy gets the girl that he's been loving for so long.
I secretly root for the guy who upon realising that he's about to lose the love if his life, rushes in mad traffic to catch her before her flight to somewhere far departs. In reality he can just call her on her mobile (assuming she has roaming) and pour his heart out. But, that takes away the romance. A phone call is less likely to get the girl, while making a fool of youself and pissing off airport security would score higher points.
I like the spontaneous acts of love we find in movies. Boy meets girl. They spend one night... ice skating and flirting over hot cocoa. Then something tears them apart. He loses her phone number. She writes his on a five dollar note and says destiny/fate would bring them together. Years pass. They are both engaged to really nice people, but despite their perfect lives apart, they can't help but wonder about each other. So, as one last effort to bury the past before their respective weddings, they return to the place where it all happened in hopes of a fairy tale ending. And of course, against all odds they find each other. Ditch their partners. And live happily ever after.
Ok. You got me. I gave the plot for Serendipity. :D I liked that show ok. I cried while watching it a bit. A teeny weeny bit. I also liked Sweet Home Alabama and the Notebook. I know I'll cry like a pig over PS I Love You, so I don't wanna watch it.
I'm in a corny mood. What I need is a really sappy romance book that I can bawl over. Any suggestions? Recommendations are most appreciated.
